The “Mini Demon” is designed for speed and fun performance in mind per Jordy’s recommendation. It’s a rocket-fish-hybrid, making it a fantastic all around shape, for flatter, mushier waves. Jordy has enjoyed the “Mini Demon” from overhead Lowers to high-lining speed runs at J-Bay. It’s performance values will shock you, as the board is a perfect blend of a fish and a high performance shortboard. Surfers of all ability levels can enjoy this board, stability for the beginners, added speed and control for intermediate and advanced surfers. The “Mini Demon” will send you into a time warp by putting looseness under your feet, with control, when you least expect, through those tight arc situations.
Features:
Bottom Contour: “Speed is a maneuver all on its own”, says Gee. This model has a Tri-V-Hull that sits in a deep concave running throughout the bottom into a double concave through the tail.
Rails: The “Mini Demon” has a “floating rail” on either side that redirects the water through quicker, adding more lift and release.
Fin Cluster: With it’s clustered, 5 fin setup, the “SS Fish”, works great as a Thruster or a Quad. Jordy prefers the Thruster setup for it’s control, when pushing hard through turns or off the bottom. While the Quad setup feels good for gaining speed in smaller waves or “high lining” at J-Bay.
Width: Wide point pushed slightly forward to give the ability to drive off your front foot with ease, another aspect of it’s “need for speed” mentality.
Rocker: The natural rocker is quite flat throughout. With it’s wider nose and fuller, straighter tail outline, it gains paddle ability and keeps you moving through the flat sections.

The Sting was invented by Ben Aipa in 1974. It was test piloted by Buttons Kaluhiokalani, Mark Liddell, Larry Bertlemann and Dane Kealohaand and it rapidly went through a series of refinements. Mark Richards caught wind of the design and came to Hawaii to seek out Ben.
For the Dark Arts collab, AIPA chose to focus on the version of the Sting Made for Mark Richards in 1976. This shape is modeled after Mark Richard's 6’8”x21-1/2”x3-1/4”. MR’s Flame Sting was made with a step bottom which removes ¼” from the bottom contour from behind the Sting (wings) to the tail. Ben wanted to create air cavitation and subsequent lift which meant more speed. This would be the first known attempt to facilitate lift like our modern concaves now do for us. AIPA added a slight amount of curve to the tail and moved the midpoint back, closer to center, to improve performance and the remainder of the board remains true to the original.
The black carbon strip down the center of the board pays homage to Ben Aipa’s wide stringer color work, as seen in the late 70’s version. The ’76 STING combined with Dark Arts Tech is bound to be a modern classic!
Suggested ordering ¼” thicker than normal board.

Built with our dual stringer EPS blanks and Vacuum Bagged in Carbon with 3” carbon tape. The dual stringers, coupled with 3" wide carbon tape on the deck and bottom create a very stiff board which helps transfer all of your pumping power directly to your foil without much loss due to flex. Both fin boxes are also set onto the dual stringers to anchor them to the I-beam created by the stringers/carbon for extra strength and connectivity.
The deck is concave for paddling comfort and natural feeling grip.
The bottom rocker is ultra flat for speedy paddling with kick tail and beveled rails to help with release.
The outline is stubby and full to give you as much foam as possibly in a short little board.
This is now the 3rd generation of this design, fine tuned after hours and hours in (and above) the water and feedback from some of the most advanced foiler/surfers in the world.
