In early 2019,  Album started working on prototypes for their soft top program. They wanted to make a board sub 5’0” that could carry volume but still be a ripper. They made a 4’10” chunky little thing that was a little over 30 liters, with a fishy rocker, twin-fin setup, and a wild double-barrel bonzer-style deep-channel concave running almost the full length of the bottom of the board. Album gave it to Asher and Josh to test. The results were remarkable. It was the first Album board Asher rode and within two sessions the guys had already stacked internet-breaking clips on a first-draft prototype. So it went off to create the mold for the Seaskate soft top, but they knew they had to make a model out of it. Ride it a little shorter and thicker than a Sunstone. It packs a lot of volume, but don’t be afraid to ride it 3-5 liters more than your shortboard.

The Pyzalien 2 works great in a huge variety of waves, from points, to reefs, to beach break. It has one of the most user friendly, yet high performance rockers we’ve made, smooth and clean, with med/low entry running through to med+ tail rocker. The bottom has a single concave starting in the nose, running under the front foot, blending into double concave and then VEE in the last 6 inches of the tail which adds release that helps ease you into turns. This rocker/bottom combo gives the board quick, effortless speed from take-off, while increasing the responsiveness and control, allowing for easier rail to rail transitions at high speeds. The outline is clean and simple, no hips or wings just a fuller nose and wider tail which keeps the board very fast and drivey, making for easy flow through flatter sections.

One of the biggest changes from the Original Pyzalien is a more domed deck with refined rails, so we recommend that you order it the same thickness, 1/4 to 1/2 inch wider and 2-3 inches shorter than your standard shortboard. Comes standard with a clean swallow tail for added snappiness and spark! This is a great Daily Driver board with a High Performance personality, built for most levels of surfer, from novice to Pro.

Known as JT’s high performance speed egg, this sleek midlength outline, low rocker board with vee, allows you to take the wheel and fully engage with the wave. This is a great “all around” surfboard for beginner to advanced surfers. The tri-fin setup lends to added maneuverability, drive and control through turns so you can cover more face on the wave. The “JAWNT” has a refined foil for optimum paddling and is a nice option for longboarders for when the surf bumps up to head high-plus. Usually ridden a foot longer than you are tall.  Pair it with our new Dark Arts Futures Fins.

The Vegan Fish is based on that classic “San Diego Fish” template that started with Steve Lis and was popularized from Skip Frye to Chris Christensen to Ryan Burch and so many more San Diego craftsmen. With the width and thickness remaining similar to the old school, the Vegan Fish has more of a shortboard style rail and very slightly pulled in tail. The Vegan Fish will have you gliding in the epic 70’s fashion while still being able to do contemporary turns.

The Vegan Fish is wide, thick, and stable which makes it great for Beginners/Intermediate surfers to enjoy and is always a blast for Advanced surfers looking for alternative surfcraft. Due to the ease of paddle and increased speed generation, Advanced/ Intermediate surfers usually ride the Vegan Fish 6-8 inches shorter than their height, while Beginners may opt for a bigger size. The Vegan Fish combined with the Dark Arts vacuumed carbon fiber attributes, flex-back, durability, and supreme weight, has made this JT’s bestselling custom shape over the years.

The Gremlin was made to get you excited about surfing on the days that are less-than-epic and also to give you a taste of FUNformance that will get you fired up in any kind of surf.

The wider outline is complimented by a low entry rocker for easy speed and glide through the weakest, slowest sections, but we left the curve through the tail rocker to keep it performance oriented and add to maneuverability. 

The bottom runs from single to double concave, with a nice bit of Vee running of the tail. This makes it a board that paddles easy, gets up and goes fast, and still has a snappy, drivey, high-performance feel to get you the most out of every wave you catch.

Higher level surfers will want to ride this board as much as 4-6 inches below their height (and find that it actually has a full on high-performance side to it). A more intermediate level surfer will want to stick to something around their height. 

It's also a great transitional board for the more beginner surfer who is ready to take the step away from their longboard (or whatever they have been riding) to a more FUNformance design! Whatever length suits you, it is meant to be ridden wider and thicker then your shortboard.
