** Pigment is deck only, wrapped around rails. Bottom is carbon.

The birth of the Embryo was to create a very versatile and functional fun-performance board in mind.  We were super stoked to have Matt Wilko acting as our test-pilot in 2019, while being on an Island surf trip. Wilko was surprised to experience how well the Embryo held through turns, with speed and control.  The Embryo's fast bottom contour allowed him to go to the air frequency and with a wider nose, made cushioning and landing big airs much easier. The board paddles really easy due to it's low moderate rocker, however we introduced a nose flip to keep it functional for those steep take-off days.

Our main focus  was to offer a fun performance board for everyday conditions with both fin option setups -  Thruster if you’re just surfing your home break, and Quad setup for those Outer Reefs, if you're a traveling man!

Features:

  • Rocker & Volume:  Designed with a moderate low rocker throughout  the bottom, we increased the nose-flip, still keeping the bottom rocker profile flat, but kept the nose flip looking sexy to avoid pearling.  We hid volume throughout the stringer template by adding more float under your chest area. This also added easier pop for lifting out the water when going to the air.
  • Bottom contour:  A deep consistent concave that flows into a double concave where it counts. We wanted to achieve a quicker water release with less drag throughout  the tail area. The double concave helps to redirect the water-flow and compress it, more so than a single, thus giving us lift and less drag when pressure is applied.
  • Rails:  With Jordy's big rig, he insisted we pull down the rails as we add more volume for the heavy weights, making the rails more sensitive when engaging through turns. Hard down in the tail and soft, deeper tuck-under up in the nose area, adding forgiveness and avoiding bogging, or catching of the rail.
  • Outline: We designed a fuller nose outline to add value; making it easier when paddling out or catching waves. The outline narrows to a tight , pulled in tail, making it very versatile and performance related - works great in hollow fast waves, which adds better control through hacks and turns. Our focus is to have a tail that knifes through sections, and generates speeds at will.  This outline is really suited for small knee high beachies, or head high hollow waves, as it carries and distributes volume in the correct manner.
