** Pigment is deck only, wrapped around rails. Bottom is carbon.

The “88” was designed for performance in solid walls or hollow powerful waves as we’ve witnessed Jordy doing these past years in Hawaii or on tour. Early last year after the 2019 European leg and tested the “88” through the first big swells in Hawaii at Pipe, Off the Wall and Haleiwa. The “88” is based off Jordy’s performance tour boards adapted for anything between 6’-12’; big J.Bay walls or Island testing powerful surf conditions. Basically our aim was to have a board that would offer confidence all round, so we played with measurements and outlines, even thickened up the front half of the board in the nose area by moving the wide point slightly forward of center, and that pulled in the tail quite considerably which gave us more control when getting up to speed.

With Matt living in J.Bay, we had the best of both worlds, and were lucky enough to have Matt test-pilot our lite version “88” model for the lighter surfers in good testing conditions.

That forward volume also helps us to get into waves easier, so you can set your rail line on take-offs, and have the confidence to take on any steep drop. We kept the rails down from the shoulder and pulled the rail down into a low roll coin rail -making it forgiving, and responsive when bearing your rail at speed. The rocker is medium to low through the nose to get you catching waves and getting you off the mark quickly. The tail has a more rockered curve for turning control and quick response. The even single concave runs through the center bottom getting deeper into a double concave through the fins, which equals speed and lift. Coupled with the outline, bottom, and the Jordy down rail,  the “88” maintains responsiveness and control in powerful waves.

Features:

  • Rocker: Our Natural bottom curve offers a moderate entry rocker for quicker glide, this allows water to flow through the center mid single concave with ease and as it passes through the tail section generates lift which in turn helps to generate speed, out the gate = connecting sections more effortlessly and carry speed though tight and rail carves.
  • Outline: Wider Outlines slightly forward of centre, especially between 24” and 18”from the nose. This benefits easier paddling into waves, and helps when tube riding.
  • Rail and Thickness: We hide volume/liters along the centre and roll the top-deck out towards the railshoulder. We drop off to a ‘down-rail’ to engage the face of the wave better, but still keeping the rail soft. This adds all round rail forgiveness, but still keeping the rail responsive.
  • Volume Distribution: Stringer thickness has become very vital in both the top deck and bottom deck configurations! Pushing volume forward and keeping the tail sleek give the Distribution and Thickness balanced allow water flow through quicker giving lift upfront and enhance speed - resulting in versatility and quicker reaction.
  • Concave: The even single concave runs through the centre bottom getting deeper into a double concave through the fins, which equals speed and lift. This will enhance lift thus allowing for looseness and better manoeuvres at will.
