Inspired by a backyard secret weapon Ben Aipa made Kaipo Guerrero in 1983, while Kaipo was surfing under the Local Motion label. Kaipo noted DA ANTS caught the attention of Al Merricks and DA ANTS was an inspiration for him to create the red beauty and subsequently the Flyer.

DA ANTS is reimagined for today's surfer and is under an official collaborative license with two brands that were leading the performance surfing charge of the 80's, AIPA and Local Motion.

This board design fuses the original Ben Aipa outline, which essentially was a bump version of the Sting utilized to encourage early pivot/release, with elements of modern rocker, rail, staged contours and a modern twist on the classic Ben Aipa Pro-Am bottom.

Wave type: Average to Above average, natural surf and wave pool.

Hand crafted, vacuum bagged, carbon fiber cloth, over 2lb EPS stringer-less foam, for optimum, flex, weight and durability. Dark Arts continues to redefine the limits for how surfboards are shaped and constructed.

We aim to make a surfboard that feels good under your arm and our process has created a product that sits in the lighter category of most constructions available on the market. We're not just focused on writing a new chapter - this is an entirely different book.
